The Emperor dragonfly or Blue Emperor (Anax imperator) is one of 11 dragonfly and damselfly species (Odonata) and one of 177 insect species recorded at Charlton Down Nature Area so far. The specimen shown in these photographs is a female in the process of laying her eggs on lily leaves in the new pond. The pictures were all taken on the 12th June 2024.
