Cow Parsley Flowers

Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris) is at its very best right now in mid May at Charlton Down Nature Area. Whichever way you look there is a frothy sea of white nodding flowers contrasting with the fresh bright colours of new foliage on the trees. It is absolutely fabulous to walk along the narrow pathways that wind around the site, in an out of the shade of overhanging field maple, whitebeam, hazel, and cherry trees, with the cow parsley shoulder-high on each side.

Cow Parsley is only one of the 67 species of wild flowers recorded so far in Charlton Down Nature Area.
