Building a Dead Hedge Habitat – Stage 2

An update on progress with our new dead hedge habitat. Having installed a dozen chestnut fence posts, we have started infilling with the logs, branches, and twigs that we have been collecting over winter – and it is looking good even before completing construction of this trial 6 metre length.

I am thinking of putting up a few signs on the structure to tell visitors what we are building – “Dead Hedge Habitat”, “Ultimate Bug Hotel”, “Shelter for Birds, Bugs & Beasties”. Will have to see what my colleagues think about that.
