
The Ruby Tiger Moth caterpillar (Phragmatobia fulginosa) has only been spotted once so far in the Charlton Down Nature Area. It is one of the 38 species of Lepidoptera recorded for the site so far. The caterpillar feeds on ragworts, plantains, dock, dandelion, and Spindle which all grow in the Nature Area.
