The Dark Strawberry Tortrix moth (Celypha lacunana) is a common micro-moth that can be disturbed from vegetation in the daytime but is basically a night flyer. Only seen once in the Charlton Down Nature Area but there are very likely to be a lot more of them and of other very small moth species. We will probably only discover the full assemblage of insect species by using techniques such as sweep netting, using a light trap, or placing a white sheet on the ground to reflect UV light and attract insects to land where they can be observed. Projects for the future perhaps.
