The Amber Snail (Succinea putris) has an uncommon elongate oval shape with a thin translucent shell through which you can see all the body parts. The fleshy foot, head, and tentacles are almost transparent too. It is very common in the Charlton Down Nature Area and is one of 12 species of Mollusca that have been already been identified from the site. There are probably many more species to find but distinguishing the different species is quite difficult.
