Meadow Brown butterfly (Maniola jurtina) imago. These images were taken last year in 2023. This year one individual has already been sighted in June but previously this type of butterfly has mostly been seen later in the year from July to September when the wild marjoram, lady’s bedstraw, and knapweed are flowering.
One of the 38 species of butterfly and moth (Lepidoptera) that have been recorded in Charlton Down Nature Area to date.
