Mallard Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) are some of the easiest birds to identify and very common on all kinds of water bodies. We occasionally see them resting on the pond, both the old one and the new one, and drinking. They have never nested there but just stop by now and again.
I am not very good at spotting the more mobile smaller birds and would love to hear from anyone who has recorded sightings of birds in Charlton Down Nature Area, either in the past or right now. It would be especially good if there were photographs that we could include in this website. So please do get in touch if you would like to contribute in this way.
