Common Green Lacewing

The Common Green Lacewing (Chrysoperla carnea) is tiny, almost transparent and, like other members of the Neuroptera, can be difficult to identify to species without enhanced magnification with a x20 hand lens or microscope.

This is one of two types of lacewing recorded in Charlton Down Nature Area so far. Hopefully when we start using a sweep net this summer, we will find many more species.
