Batman Hoverfly ( Myathropa florea) get its name from the distinct dark mark on the thorax which resembles the Batman comic superhero logo emblazoned on his chest.
This is one of 164 insect species recorded at Charlton Down Nature Area to date, and one out of 19 types of Hoverfly.
